It seemed only natural for the chapter to name itself after the beautiful Feather River, the Middle Fork of which flows through the heart of Mohawk Valley. Feather River Trout Unlimited devotes it's time to community outreach, education related efforts and resource conservation projects that positively affect the citizens and resources of the Feahter River Watershed.
The mission of Trout Unlimited is to protect and restore North America's trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds. To that end, the Feather River Chapter will engage in education, conservation, remediation and partnership efforts that benefit the cold water fisheries in the Feather River wateshed. Our members volunteered their time to clear brush at the Feather River Land Trust property in Sierra Valley. Electric fence was installed to protect riparian zone.
Thursday, May 21, 5:30pm at the Mohawk Community Resource Center (Hwy. 89 &70). Lisa Heki, US Fish and Wildlife Service will talk about the efforts to re-establish the Lahontan cutthroat trout in Pyramid Lake and the Truckee River. We will view and discuss the movie. Local guide Bill Forward of Forward Bound Fly Fishing will be leading the discussion and providing helpful hints on where to find fish. Refreshments provided. “An amazing video….You will learn a lot about me from my view point... my diet, my mating, etc., maybe a little too much! It might even improve your fishing skills. On second thought, stay home. Watch a rerun of “Law and Order.” It would be much healthier, at least for me.”
Send us your Fishing photos so we can post them to our website.
